I have been working with children and teens since 2019, beginning in my internship at Seattle's Ryther Youth and Family Services. I value the opportunity to guide our youth in understanding, expressing, and regulating their thoughts and emotions. In my current practice, I see children starting at age 8+ and use a combination of play, art, and movement. My therapeutic focus is rooted in evidence-based practices of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive-Based Play Therapy (CBPT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I work with children to deconstruct and understand the various ways our emotions can impact us and help them to find opportunities to respond calmly and confidently to themselves, others, and their environments.
I work especially well with children who experience anxiety, depression, frequent negative thoughts, low self-esteem, emotional dysregulation/outbursts, bullying, or difficulty with building and maintaining friendships.
I welcome collaboration with the family through periodic check-ins and combined sessions to foster a welcoming space for healthier thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The more curious, compassionate, and consistent we can be, the better the environment for healthy maturation and inner resilience for your child!
Is your teenager feeling overwhelmed with the increasing responsibilities that come with growing up? Are they struggling to build and maintain friendships, keep their spaces and schoolwork organized, or feeling unable to engage in hobbies or interests? My work with teens begins with strengths-first, through active identification of values and promotion of self-gratitude. We will explore how their environment can transform their well-being through exercises and discussions surrounding regulation skills, creating and evaluating healthy friendships and boundaries, and engaging in life goals and aspirations. I utilize a combination of evidence-based modalities (CBT, DBT, EFT) through free-form talk therapy or through the use of art and games to help guide and compassionately cultivate their identity with respectful boundaries and pride in their value creation and development. I have found teen therapy to be a significant space for them to explore and strengthen who they are and take steps to become the adults they want to be.
